3.2 Make hard disk's partition table

  1. Run "defrag" program from Windows95.

    2. Click right mouse on hard disk then select property.
    Choose tools from property's window.
    Note that it is necessary to run defrag before using fips to divide a hard disk.

  3. Put the created floppy disk in a drive then reboot a computer
  4. When you get a:> prompt, type the commands "fips". You may need to read fips' documents before using fips.

  5. Fips will show a hard disk partition. For example, the Fig3 tells that there are 3 partitions. Partition 1 is occupied by Windows95's partition (Japanese). This partition is bootable.  Partition 2 and 3 are occupied by Linux. If you don't use Linux, you may have only one partition.
  6. Select partition you want to divide (Windows95 Japanese) in case you have more than one partition.

  7. Now you create new partition. Define size of the new partition by using left and right arrow keys.

  8. Fips will ask you to write the new partition table you did. From the figure above, the new partition is partition 4 with size 169 MB. This partition was created from partition 1.
  9. Press "c" to continue.

  10. The last question is shown above. Answer "y", fips will create the new partition.
  11. Take the floppy out of a drive then reboot a computer.
