My First Impression of Japan

Shousenkyo Actually, I already have my impression about Japan before I've gone to this country. Since years ago, I already have some opinion about Japan from many sources. Before I came here, I think Japan is a historical country, a lot of places for praying, a country with an asian hospitality, a country with a great scenery, a country with high technology inside, a country with so many busy people and so on. When I arrive in Tokyo, I was very amazed for the mordern technology that I have never seen before in my country. But, I have a little disappointment when I realized that the modernization in Tokyo has made the scenery of the city is not so 'traditional' anymore. Tokyo is not historical city anymore as what they have in era of shogun many years ago. The other thing that I think very important for me is about the people of Tokyo (not Japan, because I can not generalize the modern people of Tokyo into Japan as a whole). I think the people of Tokyo has already lost a little their culture as an asian people. From a sight, I notice that many people in Tokyo are very individualist. This opinion based on my perception when I see the silence of people in the train (dont care about each other) and how they walk.

AkihabaraAbout the 'nihonjin'(Japanese people) ... However, when I have lived in Chofu, Tokyo for about 2 weeks, I know that some of my opinion is wrong. Now, I realize that the people of Tokyo are quite nice and friendly . Maybe they look so ambitious and individualist when you dont know them yet, but after you know about them and be their friends, they can be a very good friend who always help you when you need their help. About the lecturer, from one side, yes, they are not very good at speaking in English, but from the other side, I appreciated them for their dedication and discpline when they give me lecture.

About the 'tenki' (weather).. I can describe my feeling about the weather here for just one word, 'freezing'. I realize that I came to Japan in October which is mean the season is already Autumn and start winter, but I still feel a little shocked when I know that I have try hard to adapt with the weather. Anyway, I like cold better than hot, so I think this is not a big problem for me as long as I have a thick blanket, overcoat, thick socks, leather shoes, and of course, air conditioner. Fortunately I can afford them all in my first week.

ShinkansenOverall...
Japan is quite fun. It's like a dream come true for me and even everything is very expensive and the wheather (in autumn and winter) is very cold for me, I like Japan a lot. I also love to learn Japanese culture and language as those are very unique and interesting for me, although I have to learn so hard to understand those thing . Muzukashii desu ne..

In the end... I love Japan even I only have a very short time here. I wish I can go back here again and I hope you can join me next time. See you next.
