My First Impression of UEC
When I was accepted as one of students from Indonesia to come to UEC, I was really worried. Not only because that was my first time to go abroad but also because of the name - University of Electro-Communications. My major is Industrial Engineering and I really hate physics and eletronics. For me, management science and statistics are much more enjoyable then those two 'things', anyway I quite like information technology. That was my only hope.
I was rather afraid too when I imagine that all people in UEC in a very genius people who are not interested in talking and only prefer working in laboratory. The third thing that made me worried is because I don't know anything about UEC before, UEC is not as popular as Todai and Tokodai and none of my senior has gone to UEC before.
However, when I came here, I was really relieved. UEC is not as popular as Todai and Tokodai, indeed. But, it was a quite nice university. The area is quite the same with my university in Indonesia and the people is very friendly. Well, maybe some of the professors are not very good in English, but I really honour their dedication and friendliness.
I was also relieved as fortunately there are 4 courses that have relevancy with my major. And one thing, I was really impressed by the International House. Even my room is quite small and some coacroaches are lived with me too, but the room is very 'benri' (convenient) for me, and the utilities are very good, kitchen, bathroom, refrigerator, a very good washing machine, a magic laundry machine (because I never seen such machine in my country), and one thing, a fabulous air conditioner, which make me relieved when I have to face winter next December.
Beside all those things above. I also like Chofu very much. It is a comfortable city and not crowded, because I hate crowded such in Shibuya or Shinjuku eki. As a whole, I love UEC very much and I feel lucky to have a great chance like this, but well, maybe I should get used to adapt with the weather before I can enjoy it much more.
