My home university – Tallinn University of Technology (Tallinna Tehnikaülikool in Estonian) – is focused on the technological sides on the following areas – informatics, economics, chemistry, physics, biology, engineering, construction and energetics.
It is the second biggest university in my country after Tartu University but it is the biggest in the technological field. There are around 10 000 students enrolled every year and the percentage of foreign students is quite small. The main reason is probably not the university but the country overall. I think the main reason for small amount of foreign or exhange students is the climate – everybody know that it is very cold in Estonia during the winter. But still for example some Chinese or Indian people have taken the challenge.
Tallinn University of Technology has a big library with up-to-date scientific journals access and a variety of literature considering different subjects. We have one big and one smaller cafeteria, both of them get very crowded all the time.
The classrooms and laboratories are in good condition I would say. Every year a lot of the rooms are reconstructed from the Soviet times to up-to-date comfort and equipment.
I enjoy my lecturers and I am proud of being graduated from Tallinn University of Technology and I am looking forward to continue my graduate studies after this year in Japan.
