My hobbies, wide and varied as they are.

Well, where to begin. By the exact definition that I made up on the spot, my hobbies are computer games, and watching Japanese animation. So I guess maybe you could label me as a bit of a nerd. I have played a lot of video games over the years, starting on an amber screened 286 waaaay back in the day. Since then I've progressed through a 386, Pentium 200MHz, P3 700MHz, AthlonXP 1800+ before finally peaking at my current Pentium M 2.13GHz. Throughout that long and heady trip I've played and enjoyed games such as Aces of the Pacific, Little Big Adventure, Diablo, Starcraft, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Final Fantasy 7 and 8, Starsiege: Tribes, Counter-strike, Freelancer, Half-Life2 and World of Warcraft. At some stage I also somehow managed to afford to buy consoles as well and thus began a wierd relationship with Nintendo. All I can say is that Mario Tennis and Smash Brothers ruled my life on the N64 and when I get Mario Tennis on the GameCube I expect the same thing to happen again.

Although not strictly hobbies, I also play and watch a lot of sports. My absolute dead set favourite sport to play is hockey. That's real hockey for all those ice hockey fans. I've been playing since I was 10 and in those 9 years I've only missed two seasons (this year being one of them) because I couldn't find a team in a new town. I've played in the Brisbane, Kalgoorlie and Armidale regional competitions and have represented Kalgoorlie and Armidale at the state championships. I was even part of the winning team once, when Armidale won... the lowest division :p

I also like to play cricket in the summer. It's hard sometimes though because of my summer work roster. I'm definately a batsman because I cannot bowl to save my life although if I continue the way I've been going it won't be too long before I'm down the bottom of the order in B division.

In Japan I've started to play rugby again. It's an entirely different game to the under 9's I used to play in New Zealand. I don't remember all these violent collisions for starters :p But I couldn't really find any other sports to play on campus that I liked. I was considering baseball but then I figured I'd lose all the skill I had with a cricket bat if all I did was swing the same way over and over again. The only poor thing about rugby is that I can't make it to half as much training as I'd like to, I can't think of when I've had a fuller schedule
