Japanese government (MEXT) scholarship students

文部科学省ロゴJapanese government scholarship students are students who receive Japanese government scholarship from the MEXT.

Japanese government scholarship students receive scholarships and are exempt from fees for admission and tuition. Return air tickets are also provided. Period provided for preparatory training of Japanese is from half a year to one year.

Scholarships for International Research Students Recommended by UEC

These scholarships are available for master's program and doctoral students. The scholarships are awarded based on your research field and qualifications. You may apply by contacting a prospective faculty supervisor or department head at UEC.

Application deadlines Applications are accepted year-round.
Qualifications Applicants to the master's program must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifications. Applicants to the doctoral program must have a master's degree or equivalent qualifications.
Preliminary acceptance

Scholarships for International Undergraduate and Graduate Research Students Recommended by Japanese Embassies

These scholarships are available for prospective undergraduates, master's program students, and doctoral students. The scholarships are awarded in accordance with recommendations from the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your country based on your academic ability and commitment.

Application deadlines March to May (It varies from country to country)
Qualifications
  • Applicants for undergraduate admission must have graduated from a high school or have equivalent qualifications.
  • Applicants to the master's program must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifications.
  • Applicants to the doctoral program must have a master's degree or equivalent qualifications.
Basis for selection Submitted documents, written test, and interview(一次試験に合格したら、自分で受入教員をさがし、8月末日までに「受入内諾書」をもらってください。)
Start of studies in Japan (a) April (for admission in spring term)
(b)October (for admission in autumn term)
