Research

Study Background:

I am an undergraduate student from Institut Teknologi Bandung, and now I am in my forth year. My major of study in my university is Industrial Engineering. In this major, I learn more about manufacturing system, such as manufacturing process, production planning and control, engineering economics, work system and engineering design, operations research, programming logic and computer, and industrial statistics. I have used some softwares that related with my subjects in Industrial Engineering, they are Solid Works, Mathcad, Lingo, Minitab, Pascal, Power Designer, SPSS, and Promodel.

Draft for Project:

Evaluating The Cost and Time Efficiency of Worn-Out Product Handling by Applying Redesign Method of Product (Based on The End-of-Life Value)

The idea of my project is to calculate a value, so called end-of-life (EOL) value, at the end of life of a product. This value related to the economic and environmental value of the product. The bigger the value means the better effects from economic and environmental point of view. This value and the algorithm to calculate is introduced by Y. Pnueli and E. Zussman in a paper titled “Evaluating The End-of-Life Value of A Product and Improving It by Redesign.”

After getting the EOL value, I will try to redesign the product in order to increase the EOL value. Then, I will evaluate the cost and time efficiency of applying the proposed design compared with the conventional one. This research objective is to analyse the affect of applying one of green manufacturing approaches

It is important to study in this topic since many companies start leaving the traditional manufacturing system and moving to the green manufacturing one. Besides that, the world need more environmental-friendly product, and the consumers more aware about the product that they bought.

I am doing this research under guidance of Professor Yura Kenji of Systems Engineering Department.
