My First Impression about Japan

October 2, 2006 is a day that I can not forget in my entire life. It was the day when I came, for the first time, to a very well known country - Japan. I felt very excited and really wanted to enjoy my one year living here.

The first thing arose in my mind about Japan was that it is a clean and beautiful country. Everything seems to be in the right place. Although Japan is a high technology and modern country with thousands high and sophisticated buildings, natural environment is still protected very well here. I can see trees, parks, beautiful rivers in many parts of Tokyo. These natural scenes give me some impressions about my home country, Indonesia.

Coming to Japan for the first time was a bit shocking for me. Here people use Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji characters in writing. This is so different to Indonesia where the people use Roman characters. Going around in Japan really made me feel like in different world. I could not recognize even one character. Now, since I already live in Japan for more than one month and have Japanese language class, I am getting used to those characters.

Another thing that shocked me was the map of train lines in Japan. It is so complicated. I think it will be so tough to go around by myself here.
