Japan is considered to be the flagship country of Asia. It has very big industries. A lot of stuff is being made here. Starting from electronics, home appliances and ending with car industries. My parents have Japanese cars, so I guess in a way I my family has also supported this great economy. The most important thing why we buy made in Japan things is their reliability and interesting design. That really fascinated me as engineer to come here.
I had already travelled around Europe, lived by myself in my home country and in another European country for some time, so I thought it should be quite easy to live into the society here. Upon arrival I understood that I was not in a Europe anymore. It was completely different world. It had rules that I found, meaningless, funny and unnecessary. Ways and customs that I could not understand. The system itself has so many boundaries that just are to obey. To my experience in my engineering field, this just increases the inefficiency and decreases innovation. However, the local companies are making the best products in the world and they are one of the leading science-orientated countries.
This is the Japan way, new and old ways living side by side. To avoid collisions and to preserve the traditions, it has to have so many rules. The society really expects from everybody full commitment to have the system working as clock work and everybody follows. People really trust each other here and treat each other with respect. In a way, this could be considered the core for sustainable society and steady growth.
