I came to Japan as part of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN)
and University Electronic and Comunicatios (UEC) one-year exchange
program. I arrived in Narita on April 3rd 2004. I chose to live with
the Japanese students in the school dormitory, International House
Chofu. Although my first impression of Chofu was not too great. The
first night I arrived there, I could not understand a single word that
the Japanese students were telling me. I was tired and they still
tried to show me the entire place. That night I was so exhausted, I
did not miss home at all; I just fell asleep right away. The dorm is
only a five-minute walk from campus, ten-minute walk from the train
and subway stations, and it is close to lots of interesting things in
Tokyo. I am having so much fun living in International House. The dorm
holds a lot of fun events where we get to interact and meet with the
Japanese students. Most of the people I know over UEC are really
friendly. Even the toughest and meanest looking guy, when you start
to talk to him, he can become the nicest guy you know.
