MOU Signing Ceremony Was Held by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia and the University of Electro-Communications in Jakarta

  The University of Electro-Communications (UEC) has evolved academic exchange programs with Badan Penelitan dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia (briefly BPPSDM, i.e., ICT Research and Human Resources Development Agency) of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT or Kominfo in Indonesian notation) since November 2011. The first MOU was signed and concluded by Dr. Aizirman Djusan, Head/Chairman of BPPSDM and Prof. Makoto Kajitani, the former President of UEC in November 2012 and has expired at the end of March this year. Meanwhile, total four excellent young staffs of MCIT have been enrolled as scholars in the graduate school of UEC, on the other hand, total eight UEC students have experienced the international internship studies at the relevant divisions of MCIT; the national Internet infrastructure and coordination center ID-SIRTII in the center of Jakarta, the nationwide HRD center with e-Learning facilities BPRTIK in the southwest of Jakarta, and the academic research and HRD institution of multimedia broadcasting technologies MMTC in Yogyakarta. Regarding the mutual exchange of staffs, two missions including twelve staffs in total of MCIT have visited UEC and six missions including seven staffs in total have visited MCIT.

  The responsible staffs of both organizations have discussed the evolution of preferable collaborations and MOU extension earlier since March last year, preceding the expiration of the first MOU, drafted the new type of MOU written in both English and Indonesian language due to the legal revision Indonesia. Thus, the signing ceremony of the new MOU and affiliated Agreements was held at MCIT in Jakarta on 20 April 2017, all the documents were signed and concluded by Dr. Ir. Basuki Yusuf Iskandar, Acting Director General of ICT Resources and Standard of MCIT, covering BPPSD, with the attendance of MCIT staffs including Mr. Hendra Fatadona, Acting Head of Planning, Program and Report, Mr. Gumala Warman, Head of Cooperation Subdivision and Mrs. Elvina Nur Anita, Legal Analyst of MCIT, and Prof. Dr. Takashi Fukuda, President of UEC accompanied by Prof. Dr. Kazushi Nakano, Board Director and Head of Office for International Strategy In the ceremony, the background and evolution of collaborations, the change of environment in Indonesia due to the Government reformation and the expected future collaborations covering research activities were frankly discussed for better mutual understanding.

 Early in the morning on the day of the signing ceremony, UEC mission members had an opportunity of meeting with Dr. Aizirman (Currently, Lecturer, Economics and Business, National University of Islamic University, briefly UIN) at their hotel in Jakarta, Prof. Fukuda acknowledged his contribution to developing the collaborations between MCIT and UEC and exchanged opinions widely on preferable collaborations between both countries.

  From the viewpoint of a great opportunity for Indonesian UEC alumni to meet both President and Executive Director of UEC, some of them gathered and had a meeting with the mission members at a restaurant of the hotel in the 19 April evening just on arrival at Jakarta so that the UEC mission members could catch their elaborate contribution to the Indonesian society. The meeting would be a chance to evolve a new organization of alumni or a base for preferable academic exchange programs.
