Application for JUSST Program
Eligible Applicants
Student Status Conditions
You may apply if you are currently a regular undergraduate or graduate student in the field of Science or Engineering at one of the UEC Partner Universities. An applicant must be a 3rd or 4th year undergraduate, or a graduate student at the time of enrollment in the JUSST Program.
Students who are in their final year may apply for this program only if their home university certifies that the applicant will continue to be enrolled at the home university after completing the UEC Exchange Study Program (e.g., by extending the applicant's graduation date until the Exchange Program is finished).
*Participants are not allowed to leave the program during their enrollment term under any circumstances (except for emergencies). Please consider this commitment when applying for the program.
Academic Requirement and Selection Criteria
- Academic Background: Applicants should have a good grounding in the field of Informatics, Science, or Engineering.
- Academic Record: Applicants must have a good academic record, meeting one of the following minimum average scores:
- 80% or higher
- 2.3 or higher (on a 3.0 GPA Scale)
- 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 GPA Scale)
- 5.5 or higher (on a 7.0 GPA Scale)
Language Requirement
- English Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required. Applicants must provide equivalent test scores, such as:
- TOEFL iBT: 67 or higher
- CEFR: B2 or higher
- IELTS: 6.0 or higher
- Duolingo: 95 or higher
- Japanese Language Proficiency: Japanese language proficiency is not required.
Character Requirement
Applicants are expected to demonstrate the following character traits:
- Health and Attitude: Must be physically and mentally fit, with a positive attitude toward studies and compliance with rules and regulations.
- Adaptability: Must be adaptable to new circumstances and challenges.
- Interpersonal Skills: Must be self-motivated and able to cooperate effectively in cross-cultural, interdisciplinary environments.
- Sociability: Should be sociable, friendly, interested in making friends with students from different nationalities, humorous, etc.

Please submit your complete application, with all required documents attached, to your university's International Affairs Office. We only accept applications submitted directly from that office.
