Tallinn University of Technology
My home university is Tallinn University of Technology (TUT), Tallinna Tehnikaülikool in Estonian. It locates in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, approximately 10 kilometers from the center of the city. The main building houses five faculties, the building of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration are situated away from the main campus.
- Founded as engineering college in 1918, TUT acquired university status in 1936. TUT is one of the largest universities in Estonia, providing an interdisciplinary higher education and technological advancement.
- TUT has over 11 000 students and personnel of 1750 (incl. affiliated institutions).
- The University offers engineering and economics diploma, bachelor's, masters and doctoral degree programmes.
- Academic year: September to June
- Languages of instruction: Estonian, general subjects are also available in Russian. Since September 2003, TUT offers 6 international programmes some special study modules taught in English.

The application oriented bachelor-level programmes in different technical and economic fields of study are offered in our three colleges - Business College, Kuressaare College and Virumaa College
The most popular study fields include public administration, national economy, business administration, gene technology, logistics, information technology, chemical and environment protection technology, computer systems and telecommunications.
The student body of TUT approximates 10,000, with female student ratio amounting to one third. Beside we have a big variery of student organisations and possibility to live active studentlife.
To provide an opportunity to international students to become part of the University, TUT is increasing the number of International Degree Programmes taught in English. International programmes at Tallinn University of Technology focus on three domains:
TUT offers six full-time degree programmes in English since the academic year 2003/2004.
