Student Nationality: China

Meeting with Mrs. Natori, I have to say, it is really a wonderful experience that would never erase from my memory. When she first appeared in front of me, carrying a bag and holding a electronic dictionary(which later I know this is for learning Chinese), I am sure this is a careful and kind lady. After greeting, she said she don't know English but Chinese. And I cannot describe her accent just using correct, it is perfect. You know, for us who study abroad, if I heard my mother tongue even from a stranger, I think, we feel close to each other.

Then she took us to her home.
It is a quiet, peaceful and clean place. I like this kind of traditional Japanese style home. She served us the Japanese green tea and cookies that she made by herself. It tasted really good and I couldn't stop eating. She showed us two files which contained the photos and information of every student who visited her home and some letters that these students wrote to her later. These students all came from different parts of China and I know some of them. Just one or two years ago Mrs. Natori had been to China to attend one of the students wedding. she always carried an electronic dictionary, a pencil and papers, if something she cannot express in Chinese, she would look up the dictionary and write down and taught us the Japanese. Between the conversations, we both learned a lot of things and we know Mrs. Natori's age which shock me a lot. She is 70 years old now. Wow! I guess nobody would believe it if he or she has the chance to see her by their own eyes. She is such fit, healthy and in good mental state. Even a 70 years old lady can learn Chinese well with her persistent endeavor. How can we young make some excuses to stop learning or complain about the difficulties. We need persistence, industriousness that I learn from Mrs. Natori in the way of our study.

In the evening, she prepared a big dinner for us, most of them are Chinese traditional food, like dumplings, spare ribs, chicken, spring roll and zakuski and so on. They were all my hometown flavor and Mrs. Natori was like a gracious mother who cook for their children with full of love.

Happy time often shorts, we have to say goodbye to Mrs. Natori with reluctance. She prepared gifts for us and took us to the bus station. I think Mrs. Natori and I are just the representatives of thousands millions of Japanese and Chinese, we love each other and care each other. Let's build the bridge between Japan and China with communication and love. I think it will last forever.

Thanks to UEC for giving me this fantastic opportunity! Best wishes to Mrs. Natori and UEC!
