UEC Summer 2026 IMPACT Programme at Poznan University of Technology
Academic Motivation and the Cybersecurity Curriculum
As a doctoral student specializing in cybersecurity and cryptography at UEC, I was drawn to the IMPACT Programme at Poznan University of Technology (PUT) to deepen my knowledge of emerging security technologies from an international perspective.
The comprehensive curriculum covered critical domains such as Post-Quantum Cybersecurity, Identity and Access Management (IAM), and Digital Forensics. Delivered by expert faculty and industry professionals, the modules seamlessly bridged theoretical research with real-world case studies. Engaging in collaborative group activities with multicultural peers allowed us to exchange diverse global viewpoints on digital security, making the academic environment both challenging and highly stimulating.
Daily Life and Cultural Experiences in Poznań
Living in Poznań was highly comfortable, safe, and well-organized. The city features an efficient, affordable tram system and modern university facilities, including comfortable dormitories that facilitated easy interaction with fellow international students. Compared to Japan, the lower cost of living--especially for food and transportation--made daily life very manageable.
Beyond the classroom, I explored historic landmarks like the Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) and experienced Polish culture firsthand. Additionally, Poznań's convenient location allowed for easy weekend travel to neighboring countries like Germany and the Czech Republic, making the overall experience culturally enriching.
Personal Growth and Alignment with Future Research Goals
The programme significantly broadened my academic horizons and directly benefited my doctoral research on decentralized sealed-bid auction protocols using blockchain technology. Insights from post-quantum security and digital forensics offered invaluable new perspectives for my ongoing work.
On a personal level, collaborating within a multicultural environment bolstered my communication skills, adaptability, and confidence in interacting with international researchers.
This experience reinforced the importance of global collaboration, motivating me to pursue high-quality cryptographic research and establish long-term international academic partnerships.
Advice for Future Participants and Acknowledgments
I highly recommend this programme to any students interested in cybersecurity or international academic exchange. Even if you have concerns about your English proficiency, the incredibly supportive instructors and peers make it an excellent environment for learning.
